Delete your account
You can permanently delete your CollegesNest account and personal data at any time — from the app, or right here in your browser. This page is public: you never need to reinstall the app to find it.
What gets deleted
Deleting is permanent. There is no undo, and we cannot restore an account afterwards.
- Your account, name, email and phone number
- Your student profile — academics, test scores, budgets, interests and career plans
- Your saved universities and shortlist
- Applications you were tracking
- Private messages and conversations with alumni
- AI assistant conversations
- Notifications and any forms you submitted
- Uploaded photos, including your profile and cover pictures
What stays, with your identity removed
- Questions and answers you posted in the community — the text stays so other students' replies still make sense, but your name and account link are removed and it shows as "Deleted user"
- Reports you filed with moderators — kept as a moderation record, with your identity removed
How long it takes
Deletion runs immediately when you confirm — your account is gone before the page reloads. Encrypted backups roll over on a 30-day cycle, so a copy may persist in backup storage for up to 30 days before it is overwritten. We do not restore deleted accounts from backups.
We keep nothing else afterwards, with one exception: where the law requires us to retain a record (for example a payment or tax record), we keep only that record and only for as long as we must.

Just want a break?
You don't have to delete everything. You can clear your shortlist, empty your application tracker, or tighten who can see each part of your profile from your profile — and simply sign out.
